Stainless steel 310/UNS S31000 is an austenitic heat resistant alloy with excellent resistance to oxidation under mildly cyclic conditions through 2000ºF. Its high chromium and nickel contents provide comparable corrosion resistance, superior resistance to oxidation and the retention of a larger fraction of room temperature strength than the common austenitic alloys like Type 304. Stainless 310 is often used at cryogenic temperatures, with excellent toughness to -450°F, and low magnetic permeability.

Application of Condensate Pot

CONDENSATE POTS are used to catch and hold condensate. This helps keep manifold orifices clean and free of foreign material. They are located upstream of the instrument and have a bottom drain so that they may be cleaned. The condensate pots are available in a range of materials. Installation can be either vertical or horizontal lines between primary (Flow Meter) and the secondary (transmitter/ gauge) to act as a barrier to the line fluid permitting direct sensing of the flow conditions. Units should be mounted at the same level minimizing possible error that could arise due to unequal head of fluid in the connecting pressure lines. Typical industry applications include: refineries, Power Plants, Chemical and Petrochemical, Steel Plants and other process industries. SEAL POTS (sometimes called condensate pots) are used to allow a liquid seal between the instrument and flowing gases such as steam. Their function is to keep the liquid level constant in the impulse tubes. For example, in boiler liquid level applications the high pressure (HP) side of a differential pressure transmitter is connected to the vapor space on top of the steam drum. Steam condenses in the chamber or seal pot and fills the impulse line with condensate. The seal pot is located to allow the condensate to drain back to the source thus keeping the liquid level constant.

Alloy 316H (UNS S31609) is a high carbon modification of Alloy 316 developed for use in elevated temperature service. The alloy has higher strength at elevated temperatures and is used for structural and pressure vessel applications at temperatures above 932°F (500°C). The higher carbon content of 316H also delivers higher tensile and yield strength than 316/316L and its austenitic structure provides excellent toughness down to cryogenic temperatures..
The corrosion resistance of Alloy 316H is comparable to Alloy316/316L and is superior to Alloy 304/304L in moderately corrosive environments. It is often used in process streams containing chlorides or halides. The alloy resists atmospheric corrosion, as well as, moderately oxidizing and reducing environments. It also resists corrosion in polluted marine conditions.
Alloy 316H is non-magnetic in the annealed condition. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, however the material will harden due to cold working. It can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.

Application of Incoloy 825(UNS S08825) High Pressure Tube Fittings

High Pressure Tube Fittings

Incoloy 825 (UNS S08825) Tube Fittings is highly resistant to corrosion. It has a high nickel content, sufficient to resist chloride ion stress corrosion cracking, and a very stable austenite structure. The levels of molybdenum and copper enable the alloy to resist reducing agents and acids. Chromium gives resistance to oxidising conditions, such as nitric acid solutions, nitrates and oxidising salts. The alloy is titanium stabilised to resist pitting and intergranular attack after fabrication, particularly welding, which includes heating in the critical sensitisation temperature range (650°C – 760°C).

Alloy 825 Tube Fittings offers exceptional resistance to corrosion by sulphuric and phosphoric acids and is often the most cost effective alloy in sulphuric acid service.

Nickel alloy 20 is a low-carbon, niobium-stabilized austenitic nickel/iron/chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum and copper. It exhibits exceptional corrosion resistance in chemical environments containing phosphoric acid, nitric acid, chlorides and sulfuric acid. It also has good mechanical properties at both ambient and elevated temperatures.

Needle Valve Working Mechanism & Application

Needle Valve
Needle valve will provide the precise control over the fluid flow. When handle wheel will be rotated in clockwise direction, stem and its tapered and slender point will move in downward direction and will be tightly fixed into a valve seat provided over the inlet and hence there will not be any leakage of fluid through the valve once valve is closed completely.
When handle wheel will be rotated in anti-clockwise direction, stem and its tapered and slender point will move in upward direction and valve will be opened from closed position and will permit the flow of fluid through the valve. Fluid flowing via needle valve will turn at 90 degree angle and will pass through the valve seat at which slender or tapered point of valve stem will be seated during closed position of valve.

Applications of needle valve

  1. Needle valves are basically used for controlling the fluid flow into the delicate gauges of the system, which might be damaged if high pressure fluid will be delivered suddenly.
  2. Needle valves could also be used in various industrial equipment where motion of work must stop slowly at the end of operation.
  3. Needle valves are usually used for controlling and adjusting the fluid flow precisely. Needle valves are much in demand where lower flow rate will be required.
  4. Needle valves could be used under throttling condition, complete open condition or in complete closed position.

Useful Tips for Valve

Valve maintenance is important.  The lifespan of a valve depends on its ability to function as intended. If not cared for properly there can be many undesirable, costly, and even potentially dangerous consequences.

Despite the wide variety of valves that exist, there are some simple, general, overarching tips for maintaining them.

 

CLEANING:

                  One of the most important things to remember when dealing with valves is that they need to be cleaned.  Valves are used for water, oil, and gas.  They are used in applications such as home brewing and food processing.

This means that what is flowing through the valves could end up being consumed by other people.  This is one reason why it is important to clean them.

Not to mention the fact that if there are dust particles and contaminants that can prohibit a smooth flow of liquid or gas.  This can slow down your process and/or harm your pipes.

There are a variety of cleaning products that you can use to purify your valves.  You can also wash them by running them through good old-fashioned hot water.  This will kill any bacteria or dirt.

If you are using valves for home brewing or food processing, it is even a good idea to clean them before their first use as they may have collected contaminants during their journey to your facility.

STORING:

                      If you have purchased some valves but do not intend to use them for a period of time, then it is important that you have a clean space where you can store them.

It is imperative to store them in a place that is protected from the weather, dirt, etc.  Additionally, it is best to store them with a protective covering to help guard against bacteria and dust.

This goes back to the previous point of keeping them clean and contaminant-free.

It is a must!

LEAK INSPECTING:

                In the world of valves, leaking is a problem.  Well, in the world of many things leaking is a problem.  Anyways, as soon as you detect leakage you should go into Sherlock Holmes mode and determine what the root cause is.

It is not always the valve that is the problem so it may be necessary for you to inspect the pipes, connectors, or other pieces of the infrastructure.  However, if it is the valve, it is crucial to determine what the problem is and fix it immediately.

This may seem like an obvious point, but it is something that is easily overlooked.  Small leaks can lead to big problems.

Sometimes the solution is simply tightening a nut or bolt.  Other times, a more involved solution will be necessary.

Either way, regular inspection will help you in the long run.  It is always better to catch the issue early on before it turns into something more serious.

How to identify the quality of Butt Weld Pipe Fitting

As the connection joints of piping system, steel pipe fittings are very important to the piping system in a project ,so the quality must be excellent. For the butt welding pipe fittings, their quality is more important, because they are welded in the piping system, it is difficult to install and dismantle. 

  • The pipe fitting dimensions, specifications, especially the diameters. the butt welding ends of the fitting should match the ends of steel Pipes.It means their diameters must be same , or else they can not connect hermetically and cause some leaks. In the steel pipes and fittings standard , there are the dimension tolerances requirement ,it must be accorded with in the pipe fittings quality inspection
  • About the quality of pipe fittings, besides the dimensions inspection , the surface inspection is also very important. The surface quality commonly is checked in visual , make sure you can check all the surface of the fitting. From the surface , you can find a lot of information , for example,  the production period, it is old stock or new produced. Compression fittings are fittings which connect tubes using compression on a gasket, ring, or ferrule. The compression is typically made by tightening a nut onto the fitting over the tubing and ferrule, compressing and securing the tubing inside. Standard compression fittings do not require tools to assemble, making them convenient for quick, simple installation. However, they cannot withstand very high pressures and do not have as much flexibility as soldered fittings, making them less functional in systems with vibration, thermal cycling, and other dynamic forces. They also come in a limited number of materials (most commonly brass) and are best suited for metal on metal connections.

Bite-type Fittings:
                                                             
Are compressive fittings with a sharpened ferrule that "bites" the tube when compressed and provides the seal. Bite-type fittings, like standard compressive fittings, require no special tools to assemble but provide a stronger, higher pressure connection.

Mechanical grip Fittings:
                                                        
Mechanical grip fittings are two-ferrule assemblies. The back ferrule grips the tubing while pressing up against the front ferrule, which spring-loads the front ferrule and creates a seal between the tubing and fitting body. These fittings can be reassembled multiple times without damaging components or tubing. They have good resistance to mechanical vibration

Flare Fittings:
                                                       
Consist of a body with a flared or coned end. Special flaring tools are used to install the tube to fit inside the flared end, providing a deep seal. Flare fittings can handle higher pressures and a wider range of operating parameters than standard compression fittings.

End Fittings:

End fittings provide specific surfaces for connecting tubes.

Clamp ends are fittings which allow tubes to be clamped to the connection.

Plain ends are fittings which allow tubes to be connected by adhesive, solder, or other forms.

Threaded Fittings:
                                            
Threaded fittings have screw threads (built-in grooves) on their inner (female) or outer (male) surfaces designed to accept tubing with matching threads. Threads which provide a simple connection but no seal are called straight threads. Tapered threads are designed to provide a tight seal for gases or fluids under pressure. Seal reliability can be improved by adding a coating or seal tape (Teflon). Especially precise threads are called "dry fit", meaning they seal without the need for an additional sealant, which is important in applications where sealant addition could cause contamination or corrosion.

Application of Orifice Flange

                                                                           

Orifice flanges are for metering the volumetric flow rate of liquids and gasses through a pipe. Two orifice flanges are called an orifice flange union. Each flange comes with two pipe taps for measuring the pressure drop of the flow through an orifice plate. Orifice plates do not come with the flanges and are sized based on the requirements of the process. Two jack screws are used to spread the flanges apart in order to change the orifice plate. This flange is normally available in weld neck, slip-on, and threaded flanges. These flanges have a raised face.

Orifice Flanges generally come with either Raised Faces or RTJ (Ring Type Joint) facings. They are, for all intensive purposes, the same as weld neck and slip on flanges with extra machining.

The image on the right shows a set Orifice Flanges, where a Orifice Plate is mounted and a jack screw is machined. This jack screw is used to facilitate separating the flanges for inspection or replacement of the Orifice Plate and gaskets.

The range of orifice flanges covers all standard sizes and ranges, and all common flange materials. ASME B16.36 covers Dimensions and dimensional tolerances from orifice flanges (similar to those covered in ASME B16.5) that have orifice pressure differential connections. Coverage is limited to the flanges
