What are the Application & Characteristics of Hastelloy C22/UNS N06022 Tube Fittings?

Hastelloy C22, also known as alloy C22, is a versatile austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The high chromium content provides good resistance to oxidizing media while the molybdenum and tungsten content give good resistance to reducing media. This nickel steel alloy also has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions. Other corrosives Hastelloy C-22 has resistance to are oxidizing acid chlorides, wet chlorine, formic and acetic acids, ferric and cupric chlorides, sea water, brine and many mixed or contaminated chemical solutions, both organic and inorganic. This nickel alloy also offers optimum resistance to environments where reducing and oxidizing conditions are encountered in process streams. This is beneficial in multi- purpose plants where such “upset” conditions occur frequently.

What are the Application & characteristics of Hastelloy B2/UNS N010665 Instrumentation Tube Fittings

Alloy B-2/UNS N010665 has poor corrosion resistance to oxidizing environments, therefore, it is not recommended for use in oxidizing media or in the presence of ferric or cupric salts because they may cause rapid premature corrosion failure. These salts may develop when hydro chloric acid comes in contact with iron and copper. Therefore, if this alloy is used in conjunction with iron or copper piping in a system containing hydro chloric acid, the presence of these salts could cause the alloy to fail prematurely. In addition, this nickel steel alloy should not be used at temperatures between 1000° F and 1600° F because of a reduction in the ductility in the alloy.

Advantages:
              Carbon steel’s main alloying constituent is carbon. Low carbon steel is the most common and cost effective form. It contains around 0.05–0.320% carbon and is malleable and ductile. Medium carbon steel contains between 0.30–0.59% carbon and balances ductility and strength with good wear resistance. High-carbon steel has 0.6–0.99% carbon content and is exceptionally strong, while ultra high carbon steel contains 1.0–2.0% carbon and can be tempered to great hardness.

Stainless steel 310/UNS S31000 is an austenitic heat resistant alloy with excellent resistance to oxidation under mildly cyclic conditions through 2000ºF. Its high chromium and nickel contents provide comparable corrosion resistance, superior resistance to oxidation and the retention of a larger fraction of room temperature strength than the common austenitic alloys like Type 304. what are the Types of Elbow

There are 4 types of Elbow:

Female: The Female Elbow is built with female connections on both sides, and allows for fixing pipes or hose fittings with male ends. They are mostly made with 90- or 45-degree angles, but more are available.
 

Male: On the opposite side, you will find the Male Elbow. Again, this fitting is used where two male connections are needed.

 

Street Elbow: You can probably figure out where this is going. The Street Elbow has both a male and female connection. Designers don’t need to fret when male and female piping comes together. This elbow can help.

 

Reducing Street Elbow: If the need to join two pipes of different sizes arises, try a Reducing Street Elbow. Generally, these elbows have a male connection and female connection. Make sure you understand the amount of pressure passing through the system before using any fitting where the radius of the pipe changes.

The simplest, and very ancient, valve is simply a freely hinged flap which drops to obstruct fluid (gas or liquid) flow in one direction, but is pushed open by flow in the opposite direction. Application of Condensate Pot

CONDENSATE POTS are used to catch and hold condensate. This helps keep manifold orifices clean and free of foreign material. They are located upstream of the instrument and have a bottom drain so that they may be cleaned. The condensate pots are available in a range of materials. Installation can be either vertical or horizontal lines between primary (Flow Meter) and the secondary (transmitter/ gauge) to act as a barrier to the line fluid permitting direct sensing of the flow conditions. Units should be mounted at the same level minimizing possible error that could arise due to unequal head of fluid in the connecting pressure lines. Typical industry applications include: refineries, Power Plants, Chemical and Petrochemical, Steel Plants and other process industries. SEAL POTS (sometimes called condensate pots) are used to allow a liquid seal between the instrument and flowing gases such as steam. Their function is to keep the liquid level constant in the impulse tubes. For example, in boiler liquid level applications the high pressure (HP) side of a differential pressure transmitter is connected to the vapor space on top of the steam drum. Steam condenses in the chamber or seal pot and fills the impulse line with condensate. The seal pot is located to allow the condensate to drain back to the source thus keeping the liquid level constant.

Alloy 20, also known as Carpenter 20, is a nickel-iron-chromium austenitic alloy that was developed for maximum resistance to acid attack, specifically sulfuric acid. This superalloy has excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and crevice corrosion in chemicals containing chlorides and sulfuric, phosphoric, and nitric acids. It also contains niobium for stabilization against sensitization and resultant intergranular corrosion. Carpenter 20 combines excellent corrosion resistance with elevated mechanical properties and relatively easy fabrication. Although originally designed for use in sulfuric acid related industries, Alloy 20 is now a popular choice for a wide variety of industries including the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries. In addition, this superalloy is used in heat exchangers, mixing tanks, metal cleaning and pickling equipment, and piping.

There has long been a debate on whether Carpenter 20 is a stainless steel or a nickel alloy because the nickel content is right on the border of defining it as one way or the other. So, depending on who you talk to this alloy may be referred to as alloy 20 Stainless Steel or as a nickel alloy. Either way it is still great for corrosion resistance.

Alloy 316H (UNS S31609) is a high carbon modification of Alloy 316 developed for use in elevated temperature service. The alloy has higher strength at elevated temperatures and is used for structural and pressure vessel applications at temperatures above 932°F (500°C). The higher carbon content of 316H also delivers higher tensile and yield strength than 316/316L and its austenitic structure provides excellent toughness down to cryogenic temperatures..
The corrosion resistance of Alloy 316H is comparable to Alloy316/316L and is superior to Alloy 304/304L in moderately corrosive environments. It is often used in process streams containing chlorides or halides. The alloy resists atmospheric corrosion, as well as, moderately oxidizing and reducing environments. It also resists corrosion in polluted marine conditions.
Alloy 316H is non-magnetic in the annealed condition. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, however the material will harden due to cold working. It can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.

High Pressure Tube Fittings

Incoloy 825 (UNS S08825) Tube Fittings is highly resistant to corrosion. It has a high nickel content, sufficient to resist chloride ion stress corrosion cracking, and a very stable austenite structure. The levels of molybdenum and copper enable the alloy to resist reducing agents and acids. Chromium gives resistance to oxidising conditions, such as nitric acid solutions, nitrates and oxidising salts. The alloy is titanium stabilised to resist pitting and intergranular attack after fabrication, particularly welding, which includes heating in the critical sensitisation temperature range (650°C – 760°C).

Alloy 825 Tube Fittings offers exceptional resistance to corrosion by sulphuric and phosphoric acids and is often the most cost effective alloy in sulphuric acid service.
